– Robert Greenleaf

Welcome to the latest edition of the number one Defense Career
Opportunities Newsletter, “DEFCON-1,” a networking newsletter featuring
job opportunities and career advice for those who are part of the global
defense, aerospace and security industry.

Your company's jobs can be listed here when you share them with me.
Please ask your Director of HR to send me your company's most pressing
job hiring priority each week.  Make sure your recruiting manager
subscribes to DEFCON 1.

Please share these opportunities and refer this network to your friends
in the defense industry.  They can subscribe for free when they send a
blank a-mail to DCO-subscribe@topica.com.

If you are seeking employment and want to pitch yourself before hiring
managers in the defense industry, send me (lundquist989@cs.com) your
pitch and I'll post, one at a time (so there might be a queue) and
always first.

Transitioning, or changing your e-mail address?  Don't forget to change
your DEFCON – 1 subscription.  To unsubscribe, send a blank e-mail from
the old account to DCO-unsubscribe@topica.com. Then a blank e-mail from
your new account to
DCO-subscribe@topica.com.

This is a cooperative network.  That means everyone's participation is
required to provide job opportunities to share.  When you learn about a
job opportunity in the defense sector, such as a position that comes
open with your company, you send me the title, organization, location,
and a brief description; link; or contact information, and I'll share.

I never give out, rent, or sell my list, and neither does Topica.

***  Juanita Williford-Roulhac:

I received this news from Deputy CHINFO yesterday:

Team PA,

For those who may not know, longtime Fleet Hometown News Center and Navy
employee and friend to countless PAOs and MCs throughout the world, Ms.
Juanita Williford-Roulhac recently passed away after a long battle with
cancer.  Her contributions to Navy Public Affairs were many and she will
be missed by all whose lives she touched during her long association
with the Navy.

Juanita's funeral will be held this Friday at 1400.  The funeral is
being conducted by:

Grave's Funeral Home
1631 Church St.
Norfolk, VA 23504-2311
(757)622-1085

Juanita Williford, I can honestly say, did more to recognize the
accomplishments of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen than any one
person ever.  She had the difficult and tedious task of preparing one
FHTN form after another, so that it could become the good news story
that was printed in the local newspaper.  There it meant the world to
that individual and his or her family and friends, and would be cut out
and posted on bulletin boards and refrigerators.  Juanita's stories put
a real face on the Navy.  And she did this in hundreds of newspapers
across America.  It was hard work, and thankless.  It never ended,
because the forms came in as fast as Juanita and her team could process
them.  While I worked at FHTNC with Juanita, our team produced more than
a million news releases a year.  Taken together, these releases resulted
in newspaper copy by the mile.   We have lost a national treasure.
