Description of Duties:

 

Serve as a Technical Writer/Editor for the One System Remote Video Terminal (OSRVT). Responsible for the development and maintenance of all training materials and Training Support Packages (TSPs) in the Training Development Capabilities (TDC) database. Integrate the OSRVT lesson plans into Primary Military Education (PME) courses at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE). Confer with Users to obtain tactical employment techniques and organizational considerations for inclusion into Field Manuals (FMs) and other doctrinal publications. Participate in the validation and verification of future variant of the OSRVT and its associated manuals and training material.

 

Requirements for the Position:

 

High School Diploma.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

7+ years relevant experience.

 

Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.

 

Must have excellent communications skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.

 

Proficient in using the Training Development Capabilities (TDC) database.

 

Prior Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) experience is required.

 

Prior military service is desired.

 

Must be available to travel as required.

 

US Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (Secret). Must have an active Secret Clearance.

Camber is currently seeking qualified marine engineers to serve as Port Engineers for ships in their Surface Fleet in Norfolk, VA. Navy Port Engineers act as the owner’s representative and serve as the subject matter expert on ship’s systems/equipment and are intimately familiar with the operational and maintenance requirements of their assigned ships to ensure their mission readiness. They are active participants on a Maintenance Team responsible for one or two ships and serve as the Commanding Officer’s primary representative for all off ship maintenance and modernization. As their assigned ship’s life cycle manager, the Port Engineer is expected to be the most knowledgeable person on the material condition of their ships and are responsible for ensuring their ships safely meet their expected service life. Port Engineers engage with senior Navy leadership, government program offices, sailors in the fleet, and shipyard contractors so effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Travel is minimal and all shipyard availabilities are conducted in the home port. All Port Engineers are encouraged to visit their ships during deployment in order to plan work packages and to get underway with them as their schedule permits.

 

Candidates must have the following qualifications: possess and maintain SECRET government clearance, bachelor’s degree in Engineering, minimum USCG Third Assistant Engineer License, and at least 5 years of sailing experience in the merchant marine or Navy. Prior Port Engineer experience, involvement with ship repair industry, and knowledge of the Navy’s current maintenance practices is desirable. Candidates must be physically able to enter confined space (i.e. tanks and voids), climb ladders, and masts aboard their assigned ships while in port or at sea in order to validate maintenance requirements.

The assistant director, development communications is responsible for managing communications projects and materials primarily in support of all fundraising initiatives and campaigns. In addition to writing/producing content, he/she will coordinate with internal staff as well as external vendors and freelancers to broaden awareness of philanthropy at the Naval Academy via the Naval Academy Foundation. This is an exempt position reporting to the Director of Communications.

 

Major responsibilities and duties (but not limited to):

 

  • With direction from the Director of Communications, support an effective communications strategy for fundraising and efforts that integrate with and support existing communication efforts.
  • Writes/edits material to present information to tell the story of the Foundation including donor profiles and gifts at work for print and electronic communications including articles, press releases, case statements, e-mails, etc.
  • Serve as managing editor of the bi-annual newsletter From the Bridge.
  • Review and recommend tactical approaches for donor communications to include online asks, end of year campaigns and targeted messages.
  • Collaborates with internal and Naval Academy staff at all levels to research, plan and execute communications efforts in support of the Foundation and the upcoming campaign.
  • Prepare presentations, talking points, speeches, proposals and other supporting materials as required.
  • Support social media strategies as an administrator of the Facebook page, among other electronic opportunities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or communications
  • Familiarity in all facets of communications
  • Experience with development communications preferred
  • Ability to represent Alumni Association and Foundation to external audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
