- Plan executive education: Translate expertise into programs by planning and executing conferences, workshops, and webinars
- Build a community: Promote networking and idea-sharing to increase member value and engagement in the Council, including overseeing and managing the Council’s International Network, comprised of 500 public affairs professionals in 25+ global markets
- Create resources: Write materials that demonstrate the Council’s thought leadership and provide members with best practices
- Public speaking: Enhance awareness of the Council’s expertise by developing customized training programs and delivering speeches
- Communicate: Increase member communications on trends and emerging issues in the field.
Required Abilities and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; master’s degree preferred
- International public affairs, communications and/or advocacy work required
- Must have an understanding of the challenges and opportunities multinational corporations face
- Must have outstanding public speaking and communication skills with audiences that include senior-level officials and C-suite executives; strong experience with diverse cultures a plus
- Requires an acute commitment to high-level customer service
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, balance many projects at once, and meet deadlines and objectives with limited direct supervision or administrative assistance
- A commitment to excellence and an ability to demonstrate sound judgment and leadership, often without complete information
- Program management, event planning and/or consulting experience
- This person must wholeheartedly be a team player committed to achieving not only individual goals but also team and Council-wide goals
- Travel for this position varies from 10 to 35 percent

Position Purpose
A “brand leader” for Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC), the Director of Communications provides informed strategy, focus, drive, and coordination for all communications and marketing services. Participates in policy and strategic planning and initiates projects/programs in response to identified needs. Manages communications team and programs including media, content, marketing and web.

Key Accountabilities
Planning
- Works with NCCC administrative, research and clinical leadership to develop and integrate an overall marketing strategy that supports and furthers NCCC strategic goals.
- Develops effective interactive systems to ensure that NCCC and DHMC efforts in Development and Communications and Marketing are mutually supportive and based upon current NCCC initiatives in cancer research, treatment, outreach, prevention and education.
- Plans for and implements a dynamic branding campaign for NCCC through collaborative interrelationships with DHMC Development and Communications and Marketing departments.
- Initiates campaigns to fully leverage, on a regional and national basis, NCCC’s potential as an exceptional NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.
- Identifies and develops new mechanisms for supporting cancer-focused Development and Communications & Marketing initiatives based on NCCC strategic plans.
Development
- Collaborates with DHMC Development staff on strategies for increasing planned giving, corporate and foundation support, annual appeals, and major gifts to the Cancer Center.
- Develops project descriptions/proposals and collects materials to assist with donor cultivation and solicitation; facilitates bringing donors together with scientists, clinicians, and administrators.
- Represents the Cancer Center effectively in meetings with community, donors, and other outside groups, promoting the Center’s goals, programs, and objectives.
- Collaborates in the development of key events targeted at donors and prospective donors of significant potential.
Marketing Liaison
- Collaborates with DHMC Communications & Marketing staff region-wide to bring the NCCCmessage to donors, patients, public, referring providers, insurers, legislators, and the scientific community.
- Manages communications coordinator, web producer and administrative assistant. Develops and oversees an NCCC content strategy that supports Cancer Center messages and goals
- Identifies opportunities for promoting NCCC, including but not limited to, new programs, new leadership, expansion of services and recruitment.
- Collaborates in the development of all brochures, advertisements, and other print materials related to NCCC to ensure that the Center’s marketing and development goals are addressed; collaborates with DHMC Communications and Marketing to ensure quality publications in line with the NCCC mission of excellence.
- Leads a collaborative team in the production of an e-newsletter for the public, shaping design and content to support NCCC goals.
- Collaborates to create effective tools including NCCC media kit, video presentations exhibits, photo archive, a regional/national media list, and the like.
Media Relations
- Works with Geisel and DHMC media offices and the NCCC communications coordinator to ensure regular press releases promoting scientific advancement, individual achievement, and activities of NCCC.
- Works proactively with local, regional, national, and international media to ensure coverage of NCCC activities and to encourage media to use NCCC contacts for commentary when reporting national cancer news.
- Creates opportunities for educating members of the media and legislators about NCCC.

POSITION

Job Requirements

- Works with WWF-US headquarters to ensure accuracy of current communications materials. Maintains regular and direct contact with headquarters to ensure consistency of messaging.
- Anticipates communications conflicts, as well as risk to our reputation and brand, and works to mitigate these risks.

- A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, media, marketing or related subject required.
- Must demonstrate success in conceptualizing, developing, implementing and managing communications strategies that support an entity’s goals.

- Experience with mission-oriented, strategic communications strongly preferred.

A suspected mother vessel disguised as fishing vessel deployed six high speed skiffs which chased a bulk carrier underway. The persons onboard the skiffs wearing camouflage clothes circled around and attempted to board the ship. Master raised alarm, water spray system activated, increased speed, took evasive manoeuvres, broadcast security messages continuously via VHF channel 16 and contacted Philippines navy for assistance. Upon hearing the Philippines navy’s reply on the VHF channel, the skiffs aborted the attempted attack and moved away.
