Seven pirates armed with guns and knives boarded a Ro-Ro cargo ship underway. They took control of the vessel, took the crew hostage and stole crew cash, personal effects and ship’s properties. As the pirates were unable to navigate the vessel, it grounded. The crew fought back, disarming the pirates before retreating into the citadel. After unsuccessful attempts to break into the citadel, the pirates left the vessel. Local authorities notified who later boarded the vessel for inspection.

Duty crew onboard an anchored bulk carrier noticed the lashing straps of the forward life raft cut and the life raft missing. Alarm raised, a search was carried out and the incident was reported to port authorities via the local agents.

Duty crew onboard a bulk carrier underway spotted three unauthorised persons on the starboard quarterdeck. Alarm raised and crew mustered. Seeing the crew alertness, they persons escaped with stolen ship’s spares. Singapore Coast Guard boarded the vessel to investigate.
102-22 21.11.2022: 1845 UTC: Posn: 10:11.4N – 107:01.9E, Vung Tau Anchorage, Vietnam.
Duty crew onboard an anchored chemical tanker spotted a small boat near the bows and informed the OOW. Alarm raised and crew mustered. A search was carried out. The paint locker was found broken into and ship‘s stores stolen.
101-22 21.11.2022: 1809 UTC: Posn: 21:27.5N – 089:35.9E, Mongla Outer Anchorage, Bangladesh.
About 18 robbers in two long wooden boats armed with long knives boarded an anchored bulk carrier using ropes. They took hostage the deck watchman on routine rounds, threatened him with a knife on the throat and tied him up. Alarm raised, pilot station and coast guard notified by VHF and all non-essential crew retreated into the citadel. The robbers broke into the paint locker, the bosun and forecastle stores and started stealing ship’s properties and stores. Three of the robbers approached the accommodation and using the deck watchman’s UHF radio contacted the Master and asked for a ransom. The Master offered a reduced amount which was rejected. The robbers told the Master that they would leave once they had taken the ship’s stores and properties. Later, the deck watch man was released and was found to have sustained minor injuries because of the knife being pressed on the neck and the hands being tied.
