The Free Job of the Week Newsletter

www.nedsjotw.com

This is JOTW newsletter number 2,039

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”

– Confucius

This edition of JOTW comes to you from Springfield, Virginia.

***  Welcome to the JOTW network!

You are one of more than 5,800+ members in the JOTW subscriber network.

This is the award-winning free Job of the Week e-mail networking newsletter for professional communicators, dedicated to the positive unanticipated consequences of networking, or as we call it, “nedworking.”  JOTW is a cooperative service.  That means JOTW relies on the contributions of its members, like you.  We share job opportunities, news and information about the job market, as well as swapping stories about life’s peculiarities.  We connect you with others who are like you, and together we help each other.  What a concept.  Did I mention it’s free?

***  To submit a job for sharing on JOTW, please provide the job title, organization or company, and location and send it to Ned at lundquist989@cs.com.   Provide a link or contact info so people can check out your listing or follow up if interested.

***  Posting a job is free.    Recruiters can submit up to three jobs for free.  Each job listing may be posted once in the newsletter for free

I request that you do not send pdf files that I have to copy and reformat.  I prefer you provide your very brief job description in an email rather than an enclosure.  Please limit the size of your position descriptions (generally to 500 words or less).  “Can’t Wait” blast email priority listings are $300, and “Top Job” placement is $100.  Just send to me at lundquist989@cs.com.

***  This is a cooperative service.  It relies on your participation and contribution.  As you receive the benefit of this free newsletter, you should also send in jobs you learn about.  This is especially the case when there are job listings in the companies that you work for.

***  To sign up for JOTW’s new Google Groups list, send an email to Ned at lundquist989@cs.com and request to join the JOTW listserv.  If you received this as an email from neds-job-of-the-week@googlegroups.com, then you are on this list.

***  This week’s Can’t Wait postings:

None this week

***  Can’t Wait jobs:  These jobs are forwarded to the entire list as soon as they are received, and do not wait for the Monday newsletter, and are posted prominently on the JOTW website.  Then they are posted first in the weekly JOTW newsletter.  Can’t Wait postings cost $300.  Contact Ned at lundquist989@cs.com.

***  This week’s Top Job:

None this week.

Top Jobs:  Stand above the rest.  Your job can be right here, at the top of the weekly JOTW newsletter.  Top job placement costs $100 per job per week.  To be on top, contact Ned at lundquist989@cs.com.

***  If you find out about a job opportunity in communications, send it to me (lundquist989@cs.com),   and I’ll share it with the JOTW network.

***  Send your One Paragraph Pitch submissions to lundquist989@cs.com.   You can pitch yourself or your business any way you want, as long as it’s short and to the point.  You can include a photo, too! There is no waiting list.  Or, if there is, the queue is pretty short.  And it’s free!  Submit yours today!

***  Showcase Your Expertise with Professional Certification

As a communication professional, you’ve made a career out of continued learning and growth within the communications field. Now, show off the expertise you have honed by earning professional certification through the Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC).

The Communication Management Professional (CMP) and Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) certifications will set you apart from the crowd and give you increased recognition and other benefits in the workforce.

Don’t wait: explore your options today.

The GCCC’s purpose is to create and maintain an internationally recognized standard of communication excellence based on a global understanding of key principles and job competencies worldwide. The GCCC’s Communication Management Professional (CMP) and Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) certifications are the only certifications in the world that meet ISO standards (ISO/IEC 17024).

The GCCC recently conducted a survey amongst communication certificants, sponsored by #WeLeadComms. Take a look at the results of that survey here.

JOTW 17-2024

April 29, 2024

The Free Job of the Week Newsletter

www.nedsjotw.com

This is JOTW newsletter number 2,038

“Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”

– Nelson Mandela

This edition of JOTW comes to you from Springfield, Virginia.

Note:  After a two-week family vacation your JOTW newsletter resumes normal publication. I apologize for any inconvenience.

***  Here’s the link for the JOTW newsletter on the website:

http://www.nedsjotw.com/2024/04/29/jotw-17-2024/

***  One Paragraph Pitch:

None this week.

Hi Ned! Would you be able to include this opportunity in the upcoming Job of the Week? Thank you so much!

26.)  Manager/Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications, Economic Architecture Project, Washington, DC/Virtual

Economic Architecture is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on driving change at the structural level. Since launching only a year ago, we have focused on closing the racial wealth gap by making home ownership more accessible and sustainable. This is just the first of many structural economic challenges we plan to address in the coming years. We are seeking a Manager/Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications (depending on years of experience) to help get our message out and reach target audiences. Since we are a new organization, this individual will be instrumental in helping to build something from the very beginning and will be a very important part of a small but powerful team. Our immediate priority is building an effective digital footprint, including social media and a new website (currently in development). Ultimately, this person will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy across channels, including email, media, and events as well as digital outreach. 5 – 8 years of experience. We encourage nontraditional and returning workforce applicants to consider applying.

To apply, please submit a cover letter (including letting us know where/how you found this job description) and resume to info@glassrothcreativestrategies.com.

1.)  The Dramatic Kecak Dance: Episode Taken from the Ramayana Epic Poem

We saw the Kecak Dance Pura Dalem in Ubud…but there are performance of different dances and various locations just about every night.  They are all dramatic spectacles, but the Bali Kecak dance includes the Fire Trance Dance performance includes, well, walking on fire.  We got there early for front row seats that cost less than $7.00 USD.

2.)  Balinese Cooking Class

Learn to cook some of the most well-known Balinese dishes from the Cooking Class in Ubud

Get to know the story and backstory of various Balinese meals while being surrounded by Ubud’s natural beauty.  This cost us about $22 per person, and included a market tour and hands-on preparation—and consumption–of a nine-course meal.

3.)  Bali Bird Walk

A delightful morning can be spent in the country-side that surrounds Ubud.  We saw 23 different birds, plus butterflies and even a monitor lizard.  The walk costs just $37 USD and includes a donation to the Bali Bird Club.  Our guide, Su, has been leading these walks for 31 years, and she still gets excited when she spots the birds.

JOTW 14-2024

April 8, 2024

The Free Job of the Week Newsletter

www.nedsjotw.com

This is JOTW newsletter number 2,038

“No legacy is so rich as honesty.”

– William Shakespeare

This edition of JOTW comes to you from Springfield, Virginia.

Note:  I will be on travel with my family for the next two weeks and will suspend publication during this time.  I apologize for any inconvenience, but, hey, don’t I deserve it?

JOTW 13-2024

April 1, 2024

The Free Job of the Week Newsletter

www.nedsjotw.com

This is JOTW newsletter number 2,037

“Man is a clever animal who behaves like an imbecile.”

– Albert Schweitzer

***  Here’s the link for the JOTW newsletter on the website:

http://www.nedsjotw.com/2024/04/01/jotw-13-2024/

***  One Paragraph Pitch:

None this week.

1.)  Associate, Marketing & Communications, Burford Capital, NYC

Burford Capital is the leading global finance and asset management firm focused on law. Its businesses include litigation finance and risk management, asset recovery and a wide range of legal finance and advisory activities. Burford is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: BUR) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE: BUR), and it works with companies and law firms around the world from its principal offices in New York, London, Chicago, Washington, Singapore, Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai.

Burford seeks to hire an Associate, Marketing & Communications to join its global marketing team as a valued contributor to Burford’s continued growth and the visibility of its brand.

The role is well suited to an ambitious, energetic and highly collaborative individual eager to grow in responsibility as part of a small, high-performing global team that represents the industry leader.

The Associate, Marketing & Communications should have 3-5 years of experience in a relevant business-to-business marketing or communications role, ideally with experience in marketing a professional or financial services company or a similarly complex industry.
