Located in the Northwest suburbs, the American Association of

Neurological Surgeons is seeking an experienced individual to fill the

position of Exhibits Manager to market the association's exhibits for

its Annual Meeting and Section Meetings as well as sponsorship

opportunities. The successful candidate must have an outgoing, friendly

and persuasive personality and be a self-starter.

Reporting to the Director of Meetings, the primary responsibilities will

include:

* Developing and distributing the exhibitor prospectus, preparing

all communication related to exhibit sales. Soliciting commercial

support for association meetings.

* Developing and implementing marketing strategies for industry

participation at association's meetings through commercial support and

exhibits.

* Managing on-site exhibit hall set-up, serving as the staff contact

for general contractor services, photography, florist, first-aid and

security.

* Managing on-line floor management software for effective

communication with exhibitors as well as providing an on-line tool for

meeting attendees.

* Maintaining exhibitor and commercial support records.

* Liaison with the Exhibit Advisory Council.

* Developing and monitoring designated budgets.

* Supervising one staff member.

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate will possess good organizational and problem

solving skills, independent decision-making, good financial planning

skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and professional

presence. Must have five or more years exhibit management and

supervisory experience in a nonprofit, healthcare environment. Some

travel required. CMP or CEM designation preferred.

Small trade association has an immediate opening for a Manager, Meetings

& Expositions. This position is an excellent opportunity for a

self-starter seeking upward mobility. Incumbent will report to and work

closely with the Director of Meetings & Expositions to manage planning,

operations, and financial execution of annual convention and regional

meetings. Responsibilities include: manage total registration process,

from online registration to on-site registration; manage sponsorship

program; coordinate speaker arrangements; manage hotel arrangements for

government attendees; create and produce printed materials, including

attendee directories, badges, and event signage; coordinate shipping of

materials; assist in development of program schedules; assist in

negotiating contracts with various vendors; and assist in the

development and monitoring of meeting budgets.

Job Requirements

Two – three years meeting planning experience in non-profit membership

organization required. Must have the ability to maintain a collected and

professional demeanor while under pressure. Outstanding communication

skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to multi-task

and pay close attention to detail are necessary. Travel is required.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is required. NOAH database,

Adobe InDesign, Quark, and/or Photoshop experience a plus.

Job Description

Responsible for planning, developing and implementing all aspects of

medical education meetings, events, functions and publications.

Meetings include two conferences per year (3-5 days), monthly regional

meetings, periodic education programs, Legislative Day and Board

meetings. Publications include medical journal printed 3 times per year

and monthly broadcast e-mail. Also responsible for monthly conference

calls and general office duties. Some travel and evening conference

calls required. Position is subject to change, and other duties may be

required.

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess strong organizational skills and sales ability,

be detail oriented, have excellent follow-through, and interact well

with members, staff members, hotel staff, exhibitors and others. Must

present a professional demeanor and have outstanding writing and

communication skills. Must have the ability to type and use a computer

(Microsoft Office) and other office equipment. Candidate must have

knowledge of the meetings industry and be able to effectively conduct

site selection and contract negotiations, manage revenues and expenses

is seeking a Director of Meetings for our National office located in

Arlington, Virginia (next to Ballston Metro).

The qualified candidate would manage the daily activities of two staff

members to ensure the successful implementation, execution and

completion of a number of programs throughout the year including the

association's annual convention, education conference, webinars,

board/committee meetings and other annual conferences (ranging in size

from 50 – 2000 attendees). This position reports to the COO.

Responsibilities include developing and managing the meetings with a

cumulative budget in excess of $1.8M (which entails making site

selections, issuing RFP's, negotiating contracts and all aspects of

meeting planning and trade show production), creating and developing new

programs, and overseeing the team's activities: meeting websites,

registration, speakers, hotel logistics, AV, registration database, and

the marketing of the meetings. Individual and group travel is required.

Expected start date is mid-August.

Requirements include CMP designation, minimum of 10 years experience in

meeting management, with three years direct supervisory experience;

excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with

great attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task and work

under strict deadlines while remaining calm and flexible.
