The Fraser Institute has an opening for a full-time Event Coordinator in

its Toronto office. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a

fast-paced environment and who is able to take the lead on multiple

projects. It requires a consummate professional who is hands-on,

detail-oriented, and who takes a team approach.

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director of Events, the job responsibilities

for the Event Coordinator, Central Canada are as follows:

. Acts as Project Manager of all aspects of planning the Institute's

events, from start to finish as assigned by supervisor

. Organizes all logistical aspects of program, including speaker

details, registrations and venue specifics

. Acts as primary liaison with high-level speakers, including domestic

and international heads of state, politicians, senior business and

community leaders

. Designs and executes event marketing and promotional plans

. Liaises with sponsors and supporters

. Manages on-site details including food and beverage, AV, guest

relations, etc. to ensure that every detail is covered and high quality

results are achieved

. Is accountable for and maintains event budgets

. Carries out pre- and post-event administration

. Responsible for augmentation and management of Events Department

database

. Is highly organized, pro-active and deadline-driven

. Is able to work closely and communicate with all departments and

levels within the organization

. Proposes new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation

process

. Is willing to travel and is willing to work occasional evenings and

weekends

. Is willing to assist other departments as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

Required Skills

. Bachelor's degree or Event Management diploma preferred

. Two years experience in event planning required

. Superior communication and interpersonal skills

. High level of proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel

. A positive attitude in all that you do

. An ability to multi-task and work closely in a team environment

. Skill at anticipating project needs, discerning work priorities, and

meeting deadlines and budgets with minor supervision

. A genuine interest in economics, public policy and current affairs

. Working knowledge of French an asset

. Knowledge of the Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal events market helpful
