*** Navy Memorial To Collect “Stories of Service”
Calling all Sea Service veterans! Be a part of history! Tell us your
story! “Stories of Service” (www.stories-of-service.org) preserves the
personal, first-person stories of veterans in the form of multimedia
Digital Stories. They provide volunteers with information on how to
conduct good interviews, create scripts and produce an edited,
short-form video. The Navy Memorial is partnering with Stories of
Service to interview Sea Service veterans this summer. Stories of
Service has trained our interns to produce these videos, which will be
posted on The Navy Log Community (www.navylogcommunity.org).
To have your Story preserved for history, call Taylor Kiland at (202)
380-0718 or tkiland@navymemorial.org. Interviews will be conducted on
Tuesdays and Thursdays , 12-2 p.m., in person at the Navy Memorial in

– Reviews and analyzes trainee evaluations, feedback from instructors,
and personal observations
– Identifies need for revision to course content and materials or
instructional methods as necessary to improve the training curriculum
effectiveness and quality
– Evaluates the impact of planned or projected changes to security
programs and associated training requirements on the existing content,
materials and methods used for technical security training
– Recommends minor updates/revisions to courses or recommends the need
for a complete curriculum review
– Develops budget estimates for assigned courses
– Monitors the expenditure of funds to ensure optimum efficiency in the
use of assigned resources
– Participates in curriculum review conferences as a subject matter
expert in small unit tactics, physical fitness/wellness emergency
medical care room entry tactics, non-lethal force training, apprehension
and control techniques
– Assists instructors in other security related subjects
– Provides assistance in conducting practical exercises when needed
– Presents security awareness briefinggs to a wide range or audiences,
including senior officials
– Establishes and maintains liaison with a broad array of law
enforcement, security military, government and civilian organizations
interested in or affected by small unit tactics physical
fitness/wellness emergency medical Care, room entry tactics, non4ethal
force training apprehension and control techniques
– Keeps abreast of current security techniques, methods and procedures
in small unit tactics, physical fitness/wellness emergency medical care
room entry tactics, non-lethal force training apprehension, and control
techniques through attendance at training sessions,seminars,and
workshops
– Assists in scheduling and planning classes by developing and
maintaining close contact with program coordinators as well as with
other appropriate training entities
– Assigns instructors and role players as needed to assist in training
sessions
– Ensures training is consistent with current legal add liability
restrictions
– Provides security awareness briefings
– Submits training reports in a timely manner
– Serve as subject matter expert for the design of new training
– Tests/evaluates new training courses and instructional materials
– Accounts for equipment inventory and maintenance for assigned training
programs
– Performs scheduled vehicle maintenance and file vehicle reports
Qualifications
– Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain/maintain a
SECRET clearance
– Must have attended a recognized instructor development training course
– At least two (2) years instructor experience
– Must have excellent people and organizational skills
– Occasional local travel (Washington DC area) may be required
– Maintains requisite levels of proficiency in all duty-related
techniques and procedures
– Expert knowledge of terrorist operations, surveillance detection,
motorcade operations
– Subject matter expertise in the development, and revision of training
curriculum
– Knowledge of current protective security methods to provide
instruction that is consistent with currently accepted methods and
practices
– Ability to immediately analyze, predict and preclude situations to
ensure training is conducted in a safe manner
– Ability to establish and maintain liaison with personnel at all levels
in order to plan and coordinate assigned responsibilities
– Skill in oral and written communications to present training to a
variety of audiences
– Knowledge of adult learning principles, course development, classroom
and practical instructional presentation methods, and methods for
evaluating training effectiveness
– Must be familiar with the functions, responsibilities, and duties of
Foreign Service personnel
– Comprehensive knowledge of advanced concepts, principles and practices
to provide basic and. advanced training m the application of protective
security methods
– Knowledge of security programs, operations, and techniques including
terrorism and anti-terrorism operations, use of force, civil liability,
and appropriate techniques, tactics and procedures
– Good familiarization in Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
– Good familiarization in emergency medical care Physical
Fitness/Wellness program training Defensive/Room Entry Tactics (Close
Quarters Battle CQI3) or firearms tactical applications
– Minimum of five (5) years of relevant hard skills tactics experience
– Expert knowledge of terrorist operations
– Ability to complete work requiring regular and recurring physical and
mental exertion, long periods of standing, and irregular hours
– Ability to work in unpleasant or adverse environmental conditions,
such as extreme hot and cold
– Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials (in excess of 75 lbs
) demonstrating physically challenging practical exercises
– Ability to work effectively in an environment that consists of
numerous personnel use of non-lethal projectiles (firearms), air assets
(helicopters), pyrotechnics, and fast moving vehicles
